1. When it comes to feeding and giving treats to my dogs my philosophy is all in moderation. I believe they should eat good dog food and get treats for doing good things. I would say I let them indugle more with treats than with food. My goals are for them to eat breakfast and dinner and be satisfied throughout the day and in between treats.
2. My dogs get a lot of treats. Sometimes that's because my youngest will just open the door where we keep them and give them out. We do try and not let this happen all of the time however. My dogs know when they are getting a treat and it's quite cute, as soon as they come in they sit right in front of where we keep the treats and wait for it.
3.
A. Morning treat
B. To give them a treat after going to the bathroom outside
C. I gave out milkbone mini bones
D. The dogs are so excited for this treat because they get it before they eat food. They would probably say "thank you, we were starving!"
E. The benefits are my dogs know that they got a treat because they went all night being good inside and this is the first time they are let out to go to the bathroom in the morning. They are rewarded for not having any accidents in the house overnight
F. I was really tired so for me I'm still kind of zombie like and I grab the treats and give them out
A. Late Afternoon
B. A treat for being good all day while I was at work
C. They got Milos Kitchen chicken meatballs
D. They were so excited mostly because I was home now but also to get a hello treat. I think they would say "Hi Mom!! We're happy you're home!"
E. I would say this benefit is the same as morning. I am rewarding them for no accidents and also for us being gone all day.
F. I was so happy to be home from work and seeing the pups and so were the kids!
A. After Walk
B. We went on a long walk and the dogs were good about going to the bathroom (every 5 steps he he)
C. They got milkbone mini bones again
D. They were kind of tired from walking but still happy to get a treat. I think they would say "thanks Mom, we are tired now from all that walking and also hungry"
E. The benefit of this treat is to show them they are appreciated for going on a walk and going the bathroom
F. The mood was happy, we all just got home from a walk and were in good moods. The pups were so happy to get a treat and some water
A. Just because
B. My daughter got into the snacks and gave them out
C. They got a mini milk bone and a beef sausage
D. They were very happy to be getting a "just because" treat
E. No real benefit here, just that they are loved
F. The mood was excited, my daughter loves giving out treats!
A. Before bed/after last time let out
B. We let the dogs outside in back before heading to bed and they get a treat for going to the bathroom
C. Milos Kitchen beef sausage
D. They were very happy to get these treats, they know it's bedtime and so I think they would say "thank you, this will keep our tummy full until morning"
E. The benefit of this one is to show them, here is your treat for the night now lets go to bed and have no accidents.
F. The mood was a little somber since it was late and we were tired
4. If my dogs didn't have treats for a week I think it would change their mood. I think they wouldn't be as happy. They would probably be a little mopey and not understand why there was no rewards. I would feel sad if my dogs were sad but otherwise I think I could make up for the treats with more affection.

6. My criteria for dog treats really is variety. I want a lot of variety on hand. I want healthier treats and I want easily accessable treats. Brands are important because I want to buy from a well trusted company. Milos Kitchen is a great brand that I feel is healthier than others out there. Milkbone is a long time company and well trusted so that's why I buy those. The price on milkbones helps offset the price for milos kitchen since those are pricier.
7. I like to get most of my dog treats at Petsmart or Walmart. I like Petsmart because they have good variety, more than the grocery stores and Walmart has lower prices for wishbones than anywhere else. I also like getting beggin strips and other less expensive treats at walmart because of the price. I would change how many options there are, there are so many it can be very overwhelming.

Great job on blog 2! I do have a few questions for you:
ReplyDelete- You seem to have a lot of different dog treats on hand - which one is the favorite? Why would you not just give that one to them? Is there any rationale for why you give one treat at a certain time?
- What is the single most important criteria for dog treats?
I have lots of treats because I'm the type of person who buys too much, ha ha. The Milos kitchen was having a sale so that's why I bought so many of those, I knew my dogs like them so why not have enough on hand.
ReplyDeleteThere's not much rationale for which treat they get, it's mostly like if they are just going out to pee they get a mini milkbone, if they poop I give them something more meaty, and for rewards for good behavior or learning new tricks/commands I give them more meatier/tasty treats rather than a plain bone.
The single most criterie for dog treats would be if my dogs like them.
thanks
